- Joelyn lied on her bed, her face showing the expression of absolute boredom. You could not say that the thing she lied on was a bed as it was merely a dark green mattress on the messy floor. A blue blanket covers her knees and below as her head laid on a big fluffy maroon pillow. "What a boring afternoon," she said to herself sleepily, staring at the ceiling.
Her family were out working, it was a Sunday for goodness's sake. Sunday is family day to other families, where families go to chruch and bond or go for picnics or watch movies together but for Joelyn's family, her parents were both working including her sister, who was working at a fast food joint to earn extra cash. "Being nearly thirteen sucks," she whined to herself. Her only companion was her pet cat, Ozzie, who meowed as if he was agreeing with her every word. "Oh yes I agree, Jooooelyn!" Ozzie meowed but Joelyn did not understand a word of Cat. "Well, I'm not exactly thirteen, Jooooelyn. But you get what I mean," Ozzie mewed, licking Joelyn's fingers.
Bellyn hopped excitedly out of her limousine as the driver opened the door. The maids were preparing the red carpet, unrolling the long carpet from the pavement to Joelyn's doorstep. As soon as they were done, Bellyn walked quickly up to the semi-detached house. It was not a really nice sight but Bellyn would have to be tolerant about that. She hesitated a while about touching the doorbell but restrained herself. She was hardly able to hold back the secret anymore; she was about to burst! When Joelyn opened the door, she hurriedly pull her startled friend into her room and poured out her latest gadget.
"JOELYN!!!!!!!!!!!! MY FATHER JUST BUILT A TREEHOUSE FOR ME!!! Isn't that amazing? I must say, it is much bigger than your house!!! There are several trees holding up the treehouse so we have plenty of space to move around there. Would you like to come? Or even move in? I have plenty of rooms; even spa's and theatre. Come on!"
Joelyn, still a little sleepy, was shook awake by her best friend. "Best friend say what?" she said, a little dazed as Bellyn babbled on. Something about a treehouse it seems, she thought. She blinked a little, rubbed her eyes and was fully awake. "Your dad built you a treehouse?!" Joelyn exclaimed. "Isn't that a bit old?"
"OLD? No way! It's a wonderful place to live! I might even consider moving in myself!"
"But, it's a treehouse!" Joelyn exclaimed. "What could you do in a stuffy tiny treehouse?!"
"Hello, I mentioned that SEVERAL trees holds it up and there's PLENTY of space to MOVE around there. There's PLENTY of rooms and SPAS and THEATRES,"
Joelyn's jaw could have possibly dropped. "But the exams are coming! Why did he build it for?"
"Because that would be better than burning the cash, wouldn't it? Let's go!"
"I need to change! Can I bring Ozzie?"
Ozzie gave Bellyn a smirk, well, a smirk a cat would smirk.
"Uh. I haven't hired maids for his litters yet though. If you would not mine cleaning him, then he is very much welcome."
"What am I suppose to wear?" Bermudas?"
"Bermudas? That's ridiculous!"
"Shorts?"
"Ugh, I'll dress you at the treehouse," Bellyn sighed, dragging Joelyn with Ozzie prancing behind.
Throughout the ride up to the treehouse, Bellyn continued babbling. Joelyn had fallen fast asleep in the cool air-conditioned limousine and ozzie was staring blankly around. When they reached, Bellyn scolded the maids for wasting time doing something as nonchalant as preparing red carpets and then proceeded to the treehouse. It was a wooden house designed by the greatest architects. There were
wooden bridges joining up different trees and their houses. It was almost like a wooden city. Joelyn and Bellyn were not even in the residental area anymore. They were in a different world; a forest!
"This place looks like a theme park," Joelyn said. "It's not,"Bellyn said,"It's private property."
"Come, let's go up," Bellyn pointed at the west direction. "Please keep your cat off our beloved red carpet, Missy doesn't like fur on the carpet," said one of Bellyn's maids. Joelyn carried up Ozzie and petted his fuzzy head. "I wanted to stay in the air-con," Ozzie groaned, he let out a slow meow, sounding unsatisfied.
Bellyn and Joelyn walked down the red carpet which was practically everywhere. It was like a road of stardom for the rich and famous. "Missy and visitor, this way please," a butler lead them to an escalator made out completely of wood. "Wow, this must have cost a lot!" Joelyn said, amazed as they went up the escalator. "Don't let the cat touch the wood, he might scratch it," said the same maid of Bellyn's cautionly.
"Gee, Cathy, lighten up. Well, Joelyn, my Father loves me," Bellyn said in a happy voice.
Joelyn carried Ozzie while Bellyn carried on about how lucky she is. As the three of them climbed the West Wing, what greeted them was a small hut standing on a wooden platform. They opened the wooden door and stepped into the empty room. It was very very spacious and large windows to look out from. The wood was of high quality. Then Bellyn continued giving Joelyn and Ozzie a tour around her 'private property'. Like she had said, there was a spa on the east wing area, but that was the indoor spa in a large hut. The other spa, the public outdoor one, was at the bottom of the treehouse, well hidden by the towering tree houses. There was even a look-out post and toilets. Finally they reached Bellyn's room, which was located around the west wing area. Surprisingly it was furnished and decorated in a subtle way, and not the flashy pink and glitter like the bedroom in her mansion.
An oak four-poster bed was perched in the middle of the room, on the light green mat that looked really fluffy. Frills were mainly the theme of every piece of furniture in her room. The curtains that covered the bed were of the same type that covered the windows. They were tied up neatly with old-fashioned ropes. Everything was either green or brown in colour.
Ozzie nearly jumped out of Joelyn's arms. He was excited and fascinated by the room and it reminded him of his favourite scratching post. He let out a long sati
